"La Plutónica" is a satirical pamphlet critical of various European monarchs, this ode was directed most especially against the Spanish King, Fernando VII. The governor of the Cisplatina province ordered the confiscation of all extant copies in the city and their immediate surrender to the government. A printing tribunal was also formed so that the responsible party could be tried for this transgression. During the entire month, several copies were located and seized around the city, in commercial establishments as well as in the homes of known buyers, some of them denounced by the occasional vendor (see "Periodismo y libertad de imprenta en visperas de la independencia uruguaya: la coyuntura de 1822 a 1823", a conference paper given by Wilson F. González Demuro at the 3as Jornadas de Historia de la Patagonia held in Bariloche, Argentina from November 6-8, 2008).
